A wonderful trip. was a bit streneous boarding plane and unboarding, getting luggage checkeed and claimiing lugguages.
The tour guides were wonderful too and super nice and informative. Obtaining visa entry was also stressful as many seniors aren't that quick with electronics.

Trip was nice but very exhausting. We flew from LAX to Hong Hong (14 hours and 20 minutes) then had 3 hour wait to catch 2 1/2 flight to Thailand at airport for 2 hours then 1 hour and a 1/2 to hotel. Welcome dinner in 30 minutes. Are flights to remain countries required we arrive three hours early at airport and long drives to and from airport. My wife and I both got ill in Hong Kong and we ask for the guide to call a Doctor. He called hotel manager and the hotel charged $100 concierge fee to escort doctor to our room. We were given antibiotics and had to pay $1,074 U S dollars for this visit! We filed claim with Tripmate on December 13, 2018. They never responded until January 28, 2019 to stated they need supplemental insurance information. We stated we receive Medicare and the trip would not be covered. They demand a statement from Medicare stating they would be no benefits paid. During this time we spent hours calling Tripmates automated number. They never answered the phone at any time. It required a call back option and if you missed a called back you needed to restart the process. I called Smartours to ask for assistance into looking into our issue and they stated send an email to support. We received an automated respond that they would respond with 6 weeks. Yes you read this correctly. They never called or attempted to assist. We met a lot of nice people and enjoyed a lot of sights but I trip will be remember as a nightmare dealing with Tripmate and the lack of concern from Smartours. We just got our insurance check today. We filed claim on December 13, 2018, and received check today August 15, 2019. The system will not allow you to place a 3 star review

We had a fabulous time on our recent trip to Asia with Smartours. Wonderful value and experience.

Well priced, qualified local guides, smaller group.
Carol
In general this was an excellent tour. It would have been better if there had been a Smartours guide for the entire tour in addition to the local guides as I have had on every other Smartours trip I have been on. That said, the choice of sites for the city tours and the optional tours was excellent. The pace was pretty intense, but it helped to take a spa day in Bali. We had a great time.
Karen
The best of the Orient was fantastic. The tour guides were all knowledgeable and personable. The hotels were great. The optional tours made the trip so memorable for our family. Our grown sons came with us making it even more special.
Mary
Best of the Orient exceeded my expectations. Each country’s Tour Director was friendly, accommodating, and had a great sense of humor. That said, Ketsara Chocksmai and Nok Teawattana are by far the best! Both share their passion and love for their country, treat their tourists like family, and spend their free time exploring more sites with their tourists. I’ve been blessed to have Ketsara twice in the past two years and she never disappoints! The optional tours were money well spent!
