The holiday home is also only 30 km from the world-famous harbour towns of Edam and Volendam. The area is ideal for exploring by bike. It is wonderful to cycle along the dyke with an unobstructed view of the water. A small beach is not far away and the water is relatively shallow, making it suitable for children. Worth a special mention is the recently opened Marker Wadden (2018), a beautiful nature project in the Markermeer. The Marker Wadden, which consists of 5 islands, can only be reached by boat. There are observation towers in several places, including the 12-metre-high "Steltloper", 12 km of hiking trails and long beaches with shallow water. A must for birdwatchers.
