7 Bedroom House in Allaben, Shandaken
Located in Shandaken NY, Chateau Bungalow is a recently renovated house that has the thoughtful charm to be your home away from home, but also includes many of the in-home amenities you might expect from a resort hotel. Nestled by Shandaken Wild Forest, this house is only a 13 min drive to Belleayre Mountain, 22 min drive to Hunter Mountain, and approximately 30 min drive to Windham Mountain.
Enjoy your morning coffee by the wood burning fireplace, gazing out the picture window into the lush foliage, or an afternoon cocktail al fresco on our patio overlooking the large yard surrounded by trees. We have everything you need for the perfect getaway, whether you love hiking, skiing, relaxing, cooking, adventuring or all of the above.
The Living Room is our favorite spot to enjoy in the house. Lounge on the leather sofas and gaze out the picture windows to enjoy the view of lush foliage, switch on the Smart TV (where you can easily sign into your Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming account) for movie night or the big game, or enjoy a one of our board games with your group. The living room is adjacent to the kitchen which has an expansive island and stools for gathering around and a dining room with enough seating for your group to dine together.
Sleeping Arrangements
Chateau Bungalow has 5 traditional bedrooms and can sleep 9 guests. With 1 King Size Bedroom, 2 Queen Size Bedrooms, and 1 bedroom with a bunk bed & 1 full bed, you will find room for your entire group to spread out. All bedrooms feature Casper Mattresses, quality linens and are thoughtfully decorated. Smart TVs are in two of the bedrooms as well where you can easily sign into your Netflix, Hulu, or other streaming account. The entire house has central air so you can keep it to your groups preferred temperature.
The Kitchen
The Kitchen is equipped with all new appliances and finishes as well as cooking utensils, pots and pans, and basically all the tools you need to make morning pancakes, spaghetti Bolognese dinner, and everything in between. (Groceries not provided.) For morning coffee, there is a coffee machine, please feel free to bring along your favorite roast. You will find all the dish ware, serve ware, and drink ware you need for such a large group to dine, but don't worry, we have you covered with a dishwasher too.
Bathrooms
There are 2 bathrooms at Chateau Bungalow. One of which has a bathtub, perfect for filling with bubbles or salts to kick back and relax. Each bathroom has a spacious shower with rain shower head and are stocked with toiletries, a hair dryer in each, and super plush towels.
Outdoors
Step outside and you will find a back porch deck that leads you down to an al fresco dining area. If BBQ-ing is your thing, we have you covered with a propane grill. An extra tank is provided in case the one there runs low and needs to be swapped out. Further out in the yard is a fire pit surrounded with Adirondack chairs for your entire group to gather around (limited firewood supply).
For the kiddos (and parents)
As parents ourselves, we understand the fun and challenges that come with travelling with kids. We've stocked our home with creature comforts to make your stay with smaller guests more enjoyable. For dining we have BPA free plastic dinnerware and cups for the kids as well as a highchair for our smallest of guests. Our home has a pack and play, a baby Björn bouncer, wipe-able changing table, and a skip hop activity center. We have a handful of wood toys and books for your kiddo's enjoyment. In the kitchen drawers, you'll find outlet covers should you need them for your stay. Lastly, we have a (non Wi-Fi) baby monitor you can use thru your stay, perfect for keeping an eye on your sleeping kids while you enjoy the fire pit under the stars.
On the property, you will find parking for up to 5 cars.
Guest can enjoy the privacy of the entire house, private deck, fire pit and seating areas around the yard.
There are two markets nearby for your convenience. Phoenicia Farmers Market – 4min drive. The nearest grocery store is Harana Market – 15min drive. This house is so well located that you will find great Food & Drink options moments away.

J Roccos – 1min drive.
J. Roccos is located on the banks of the Esopus Creek in the Catskill Mountains. They offer casual dining and several seating options. During nice weather, seating options include the deck and picnic tables, but the dining room and bar seating is always available. They offer a rotating selection of craft and local beers on tap and have the largest selection of Irish whiskeys in the Catskills. Rocco's has a fine cigar selection, from their Key West brand to Romeo and Juliette. After dinner, enjoy a cigar and a single malt scotch by their fire pit!
The Hot Dog Stand – 3min drive.
Hot Dogs, Burgers, Smoked Hot Sausages, and Kielbasa. Homemade Meatballs, and Italian Sweet Sausage.
The Phoenician Steakhouse – 3min drive. Steaks, seafood & pasta dishes are offered by this modern, unpretentious eatery with a patio & bar.
Sweet Sue's Phoenicia – 4min drive.
Pancakes and Belgian waffles headline the menu at this cozy American breakfast & lunch cafe located in picturesque Phoenicia NY in the heart of the Catskills. Sweet Sue's has been a staple in the small town of Phoenicia, New York since Suzanne Taylor first opened her doors in 1984. Taught by her mother and grandmother, Sue relied on her natural talent and love of baking to create delectable treats that quickly became the talk of the hills. As word of Sweet Sue's spread, so did Sue's reputation as a master pancake maker. People would come from all over to sample her Jacks, and Sweet Sue's became known as the go-to place for an awe-inspiring meal at sun up. The menu features old Sweet Sue favorites plus fresh pressed green juices, Jeff Bailey's Heavy Feather coffee, house smoked salmon and bacon and pearlized sugar Belgian waffles made from yeasted leavened dough that will inspire fierce partisan debates with lovers of Sue's famous griddle cakes.

Brio's, a local Phoenicia Restaurant, has been proudly serving lunch and dinner since 1973. Their collection of traditional homemade recipes has permitted us to provide our customers with a menu that is both eclectic and extensive. Their famed crispy thin-crust Neapolitan pizza is not the only treat that comes out of their wood-fired ovens; but is accompanied by delicious homemade breads as well as a broad spectrum of steaks, fish, and other entree items. They welcome you to come and experience their vast array of specialties, as we are sure you will delight in your stay.

Phoenicia Diner – 5min drive.
Built in 1962 and moved to the Catskills in the early 80s, the Phoenicia Diner has a long history of serving customers who are drawn to the Catskill's natural beauty. The prior owners nurtured the Diner and its customers for nearly 30 years. Current owner, Mike Cioffi, continues that tradition by offering residents, weekenders and visitors fresh food sourced from Catskills and Hudson Valley farms when available. Their menu is carefully crafted to offer traditional diner favorites, sometimes with a modern twist, using seasonal and local fresh ingredients.
Woodstock Brewing – 5min drive.
Founded by two friends with a passion for beer and tinkering. Their brewery has grown from a 1/2-barrel pilot system in a Woodstock garage to a 15-barrel brewery. They strive to provide tasty and ever-changing brews in a relaxing environment.

Local Attractions
If you are looking for the great outdoors, there's something for everyone - year-round. At Belleayre (just 13 minutes away) you'll find skiing in the winter, and come summer - swimming, boating, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, picnicking, horseshoe pits, volleyball, basketball, fishing, great relaxation and so much more. Catskill Thunder Gondola to the summit of Belleayre Mountain provides breathtaking views of the Catskill Forest Preserve. A quick 25 min drive to the base of the ski side of Hunter Mountain you will have 320 skiable acres, 67 trails, 13 lifts, and Hunter Mountain's nearly 1000 feet long tubing hill, a "no-skills" fun activity for the whole family. In the town of Windham (just 30 min away) you'll find skiing in the winter with 85 skiable acres and 54 trails over two peaks, 6 terrain parks and 11 lifts. Rail Explorers: Catskills Division – 6min drive.
Experience the magic of the Golden Hour on the historic Ulster & Delaware Railroad as you travel alongside the Esopus Creek through the beautiful woods of the Catskill Mountains. Bring a snack and a drink to enjoy at our creek-side turnaround. The travel is a 8-mile round trip with electric pedal assistance.
Big Indian Park – 6min drive.
A 250,000-acre playground, with 35 peaks and 350 miles of growing trails, including access to the world-famous Walkway Over the Hudson and Catskill Park. Hiking, biking, kayaking, windsurfing, golfing, fishing, skiing, snowshoeing — outdoor adventure awaits year-round. But you don't have to go outdoors to have a good time. Shop around any of our small towns for goods made by local artisans. Stroll through our art galleries, watch our actors onstage or catch a concert in one of their many live music venues. Home to New York's first state capital (Kingston) and teeming with old Dutch architecture (New Paltz), Ulster County offers centuries of history to discover — on your own or alongside fellow history buffs on a group tour.
Esopus Creek Access – 7min drive.
Esopus Creek is great hiking long its banks, there is also the falls which you just can't get enough of. Small towns with little shops. Lots of hiking areas in this general area.
Emerson Kaleidoscope – 8min drive.
Standing at 56 feet tall and 38 feet in diameter, the attraction is certifiably the World's Largest Kaleidoscope. When you step into the silo kaleidoscope, lay on the ground, or lean up against the wall and gaze at the ceiling for the 20-minute display. The Catskills inspire the moving images and mirrors, so look out for familiar objects in the bright evolving images. To accompany the spectacular show, a musical score surrounds and immerses you in the kaleidoscope. Ours is an experience better than the kaleidoscopes of your childhood.
Thorn Preserve – Catskill Center – 28min drive.
The preserve boasts the most painted views of Overlook Mountain. Sweeping grassland habitat, riparian forest and ponds make this spot a profoundly relaxing and peaceful area. Mowed walking paths are easily accessible from John Joy Road.
Esopus Meadows Preserve – 47min drive.
Experience this 1.3-mile loop trail near Ulster Park, New York. Generally considered an easy route, it takes an average of 32 min to complete. This trail is great for birding, hiking, and running, and it's unlikely you'll encounter many other people while exploring.
Minnewaska State Park Preserve – 52min drive.
The park features numerous waterfalls, three crystalline sky lakes, dense hardwood forests, incising sheer cliffs and ledges opening to beautiful views, clear streams cut into valleys, 35 miles of carriage roads and 50 miles of footpaths on which to bike, walk, hike, and simply enjoy.
Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park – 1hour and 4min drive.
The park provides access to the Hudson River's breathtaking landscape for pedestrians, hikers, joggers, and bicyclists. The bridge deck stands 212 feet above the river's surface and is 6,768 feet (1.28 miles) long, making it the longest, elevated pedestrian bridge in the world.

The check-in will be contactless and keyless. Before you arrive, we will send you the code to the door lock.
PARKING
Please feel free to utilize the entire driveway for your vehicles throughout the length of your stay - it can hold up to 5 cars. Note that we are not responsible for personal items left in your car.
HOUSE ACCESS
The entire house is yours for the length of your stay. Feel free to enjoy the private deck, fire pit, hammock, and seating areas around the yard. Note that this home does sit along a main road and occasionally the traffic can be heard from inside.
OUTSIDE GUESTS
If you'd like to add an additional guest to the booking, please be sure to add them to the reservation or reach out to Stay at Lina team if your stay has already begun. We can typically accommodate up to the max number of guests noted on the original listing and no more. We cannot offer customer service for extra people who don't have an official reservation through the platform, and any liability waivers won't apply. NO PARTIES OR EVENTS
SECURITY
Stepping out of the house? Keep your belongings safe and secure by remembering to close and lock all the doors and windows before leaving the property.
CHECK OUT
Our check-out time is at 11:00 AM. Please make sure to do the dishes (it's ok to place the remaining dishes in the dishwasher and start the cycle), take the trash out and close the door before leaving. Don't forget to do a final walk thru of the house to make sure you haven't left behind any personal items.
RECYCLING
Guests can leave the recycling items on a separate bag in the house. Cleaning team will take care of it after guests leave.
ITEMS LEFT BEHIND
Please note that we are not responsible for any items left behind. Lina will make every effort to search and find your forgotten items after you check out but we do not guarantee if they can be found.
FRIENDS OF MOTHER NATURE
Please note that we are located in the countryside, surrounded by trees and foliage. Although we have regularly scheduled pest control services in and around the home and yard, you are still likely to see a few insects or other living beings from Mother Nature. We ask that you do your best to keep outside doors closed as much as possible to limit the amount of outdoor creatures from sneaking in.
PETS
We love dogs and allow them in our houses, but please let us know if your are bringing your furry friend(s) along. Please understand that all of our furniture and décor is new and dogs are not allowed on the furniture or beds. You will be responsible for any visible wear or damage your dogs may cause. The maximum number of dogs we allow is two.
HOUSE LOCATION
Please note that the house is located on a main road and you should expect some noise during your stay.
REPAIRS AND MAINTENANCE
We cannot guarantee against mechanical failure of heating, air conditioning, appliances, TVs/media equipment, stereo equipment or pools/spas. Please report any inoperative equipment to us promptly. We will make every reasonable effort to have repairs done quickly and efficiently. If you demonstrate that the problem persists after being given phone instructions by our team, a maintenance service professional may be dispatched. NO REFUNDS OR RENT REDUCTIONS WILL BE MADE DUE TO MECHANICAL FAILURES OR MALFUNCTIONS, INTERRUPTIONS OF UTILITIES, MAINTENANCE PROBLEMS OR CONSTRUCTION IN THE AREA. WHILE LINA WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO REPAIR ANY MAINTENANCE ISSUE IN A TIMELY MANNER, IT CANNOT GUARANTEE THAT THE ISSUE WILL BE FIXED DURING A GUEST STAY, AS THE COMPANY MAY HAVE TO GO THROUGH HOME WARRANTIES. Lina will always look for alternative solutions to ensure and prioritize guest comfort.
