Welcome to Zatori, your home away from home and the perfect base for exploring our beautiful corner of the world.
This large house is situated above the small costal town of Collingwood, with panoramic views over the estuary that span from Farewell Spit to the Northern mountains of Kahurangi National Park.
Zatori will make you feel right at home the minute you walk in the door. The old character building was renovated to feel like a luxury house and has a lovely welcoming atmosphere while also being somewhere you could see yourself getting married or sitting down to a 10 course degustation dinner.
We now have a brand new all natural timber 6 person hot tub :) Its chemical free & all kinds of fabulous. It does have a locking lid for child safety. Children Must not ever be left alone as it is a deep pool.
Zatori is split into two buildings, the Main Lodge, which sleeps 12 and the East Lodge, which sleeps 16.
Bedrooms number 1-6 are located in the Main Lodge. Bedrooms 1, 2, 3, and 4 each have an ensuite and small kitchen area complete with a bar fridge and coffee/tea facilities.
The Main Lodge also boasts the large lounge situated between the kitchen and expansive deck with bedrooms to the left and right of this communal space. Separate to the bedrooms are three toilets, a wheelchair accessible shower and a laundry room.
There is also a dedicated massage room , if requested in advance we are able to organize a masseuse to come onsite and provide you with a relaxation experience.
Available for use is also a wood fired sauna, outdoor tub, Webber 6 burner BBQ, kayaks, standup paddle boards and badminton equipment.
The East Lodge houses bedrooms number 7-12 and also has a simple kitchen area and lounge. All but one of the bedrooms have access through a sliding door to a shared deck. There are three toilets and two showers (one wheelchair accessible) shared between these rooms. This lodge and its bedrooms are only opened if there are more guests than will fit in the Main Lodge.
The per night price advertised is for 12 people (as fits in the Main Lodge) , each person after this will be charged at $50p/p for each night (max 28 guests)
Collingwood is only a 10 minute walk away along the edge of the estuary. In Collingwood you will find two cafes, general store, post office, pub and a second hand store. Two minutes past Collingwood and you are on the beach that takes you all the way down to Milnthorpe Park where you can spend hours exploring the countless trails through the native bush.
If you a driving, Milnthorpe Park is only 4 minutes away and the world renowned Mussel Inn is only another 5 minutes past this.
If you really want to treat yourself during your stay we can organize one of the many local and very talented chefs that offer their catering services in the area. This could be a simple single meal, a 10 course dégustation, full catering for your entire stay or anything in between, with options to suit most budgets.
If you love adventure and getting into the wilderness we can help organize day trips or multi-day trips.
Day trips could include:
- Horse riding along Wharariki Beach
- Exploring Farewell Spit
- Helicopter ride to a secluded beach to enjoy lunch
- Flyfishing in salt or fresh water
- Fishing charter
- Gold panning or detecting
- Scenic flights
Multiday trips could include
- Tramping the Heaphy Track, either guided or unguided
- Biking the Heaphy Track (between May - November)
- Kayaking or tramping in the Able Tasman
