Positive: Such a gorgeous, relaxing hotel! With some tweaks it could probably get to 5 star status. The upgrade was well worth it to drink aperols (make sure you ask for a proper Aperol spritz, not the awful Italian spritz on tap! And with sangria, make sure you ask them not to put the horrible synthetic banana syrup in it) at sunset overlooking the bay. The upgraded breakfast was so lovely and the chefs were great. We had a lovely view from our room.

Negative: They didn’t tell us about the upgrade - in fact, the man who checked us in was really useless. After him, we dealt with three separate women on reception who were all great. There were some okay, quiet kids here but some awfully behaved, loud kids, with drunk parents who really brought down the vibe. It’s not the hotel’s fault, but some of the kind of people here were really questionable for such a nice hotel. Also, the weather is worse this side of the island. We hired a car and drove from the grey rain above the hotel into brilliant sunshine in Las Palmas. The benefit of the hotel in this respect is that it’s so isolated it doesn’t have any “party noise”.
