Travel Purpose: leisure

Positive: The hotel is located near the south gate Lijiang old town, about a 15 min walk or short taxi ride. It is situated in a complex of garden style hotels. I include two pictures for a traveler to find it, one is the front door where you can see the pool, garden and coffee shop that does double-duty as reception. In the other picture, a huge red yunnan 云南 sign serves as a useful landmark on Ronghua Road. Ms Fang the manager was very kind and gracious -- she provided us a lot of useful information for hiring taxis and seeing the sights of the old town. The room was comfortable with a central island. Breakfast was simple chinese style with buns and congee. We were able to go to the nearby garden hotel on another day for a bowl of noodle soup. Overall, it was a economical and enjoyable stay. I could see how a family would enjoy of the larger rooms on the property.

Negative: Although I made the booking here and attached it to my credit card, the hotel operates primarily on alipay / wechat pay like everything in china. I suggested that adding the coordinates of the hotel to a google/apple maps profile would make it easier to find. It's not a criticism since this North American traveler is not the typical client of the hotel.

Summary: comfortable and welcoming stay after a day of old town sightseeing
