Summary:
A cozy family cabin off the beaten path among Ponderosa pines. It's a cabin for all seasons. A relaxing place to spend time away from hustle & bustle surrounded by National Forest. Several lakes are nearby. Enjoy visits from elk, deer, turkey, squirrels & variety of birds. Bring binoculars & nature books so you know who is visiting. Greer has Aspen groves so Fall offers a spectacular show mid-September through October. Our elevation is 8500 ft. Temperatures are cooler than the rest of Arizona.
The Space:
Our cabin is located off of Northwoods Road (CR 1122) which leads to Sheep's Crossing and Big Lake. It is a cozy space with lots of homey touches. We have 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The combined kitchen/dining area/living room make for a lovely gathering space for the whole family. We have board games, books and DVD for you to enjoy during your stay. It has been a family cabin for many generations and has all the necessities to prepare and serve meals. We have a BBQ out back and provide propane for your convenience. We do not allow pets in or at our cabin and we are very strict on that policy. We do not have satellite TV or internet at this time, It's a true hideaway. Cell phones do work but can be spotty. Most of Greer has good cell service so you can check your messages and connect nearby. We do have a landline for emergencies and a local phone number.
Guest Access:
As our guest, you can enjoy the property surrounding the cabin but we ask that you respect the privacy of the neighbors' boundaries. There is lots of space to explore. Hoyer Campground is across the main road so it's convenient for extending large families who love to travel via RV or tent camp. The cabin is best enjoyed by families. Kids love the loft area but please note, we have steep stairs.
The Neighborhood:
Bell's Hideaway is in a forested part of Greer. Rolfe C Hoyer Campground is across Northwoods Road. It is approximately 1 mile to Lazy Trout Market (convenience and gifts), Greer Lakes, Benny Creek Campground. We are 3 miles from the heart of Greer Village restaurants, coffee shops & other shoppes. There are neighbors nearby but you have lots of privacy. Springerville and Eager are 20 minutes East on the 260. Sunrise Ski Park is 20 minutes West on the 260. Pinetop is 45 minutes East on the 260. Alpine, St. Johns, Petrified Forest and other lovely places are 45 minutes or more.
Getting Around:
Side by sides, E-bikes and mountain bikes are very popular methods of travel in and around Greer. Our local Greer Gear offers rentals for outdoor equipment during the Summer months or you can bring your own. The lakes are fun for paddle boards, kayaks and small watercraft up to 3HP.
Other Things to Note:
The loft bedrooms are separated by curtains only for privacy. It's kind of like a treehouse! The Little Colorado River meanders through the village of Greer and pours into the 3 Greer Lakes. Many areas of the river are accessible unless on clearly marked private property. A fishing license can be obtained for youth and adults from the AZGFD website. Greer is located in the Apache Sitgreaves National Forest. Highway 373 comes into Greer (from Highway 260) and turns into Main Street at the edge of the village. We have a post office, community center and several other businesses throughout the town. There are NO gas stations in Greer.
