Explore some of our most beloved National Parks on this nine-day tour across the Northwest taking us from Salt Lake City to Spokane. We’ll explore Grand Teton National Park, home to the Teton Range, Grand Teton Peak, and the valley known as Jackson Hole; Yellowstone National Park, America’s first national park filled with geysers, waterfalls, wildlife, and canyons; and Glacier National Park, the “Crown of the Continent”. Our journey comes to a close on Coeur d’Alene, a beautiful city surrounded by dozens of lakes left behind by glaciers from the ice age.

Welcome to Salt Lake City, Utah! This vibrant destination combines unparalleled access to natural recreation, remarkable history, and warm hospitality. Upon your independent arrival, please make your way to our hotel. Depending on your arrival time, you may wish to explore Salt Lake City independently. Consider taking a trolley tour, strolling the free botanical gardens and arboretum at Red Butte Garden, or experience Utah’s famous powdery snow at Wasatch National Forest. This evening, we’ll enjoy a welcome dinner at our hotel.

Today we’ll travel north to Grand Teton National Park located in northwest Wyoming. The park is home to the Teton Range, Grand Teton Peak, and the valley known as Jackson Hole. Locally known as the “mountains of the imagination”, the area offers clear blue lakes, a diverse array of wildlife, and encompasses over 200 miles of trails for hiking, biking, or snowmobiling. We’ll enjoy lunch in Grand Teton National Park and, time permitting, enjoy a short hike. We’ll arrive in West Yellowstone National Park by late afternoon.

Today we’ll explore America’s first national park – Yellowstone, an immense geothermal wonderland including geysers, waterfalls, wildlife, and canyons. We’ll stop by the Old Faithful Visitor and Educational Center and wait for the next eruption of Old Faithful which spews hot water approximately seventeen times a day. We’ll continue to Norris Area where you can see the steam and colors of Porcelain Basin, emerald pool, Steamboat and Echinus geysers which are nearby the Norris Museum. The rest of the day is free to explore Yellowstone independently.

Today takes us back to Yellowstone National Park. We’ll stop by the Canyon Visitor Education Center to see the exhibits on the Yellowstone Supervolcano before we begin our hike. This afternoon we’ll continue to the Fishing Bridge Visitor Center, and enjoy Hayden Valley, a great spot for wildlife viewing. We may see bison, black bears, elk, grizzly bears, and wolves. This afternoon we’ll return to the hotel and enjoy the evening at leisure.

Today we leave the wonder of Yellowstone behind and make our way north to Big Sky’s endless views and wide-open skies that give this Montana town its name. Further on, we’ll pass through Bozeman and visit the Museum of the Rockies, continue to Butte and Missoula before making our way alongside the impressive Mission Mountain Range, beautiful shores of Flathead Lake, and onto Kalispell. En route, we’ll enjoy lunch at a local restaurant.

We’ll rise early this morning to give us ample time to discover the “Crown of the Continent”, Glacier National Park. Today, enjoy a Majestic Tour from Apgar Visitor Center visiting Lake McDonald Valley and traveling through Going-to-the-Sun Road over Logan Pass. If time permits, we’ll stop by Avalanche Lake Hike, Continental Divide, and continue to St. Mary Valley where we’ll have lunch at Rising Suns. Afterwards, we’ll return to our hotel and enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Today we’ll travel to Coeur d’Alene, a beautiful city surrounded by dozens of lakes left behind by glaciers from the ice age. There are more than fifty-five lakes within easy driving distance of Coeur d’Alene itself. There is something magical about Lake Coeur d’Alene that’s hard to define but begins with the spectacular North Idaho sunsets and moonrises, the plunge of an osprey after a fish, the glowing lights of downtown Coeur d’Alene reflecting across its waters at night. Tonight we’ll have a farewell dinner “Sunset Dinner Cruise”.

Today we say goodbye to Coeur d’Alene and travel to Spokane where we’ll enjoy a city tour before our journey comes to a close at Spokane International Airport at approximately 12pm.

MEETING POINT
Please make sure you arrive in Salt Lake City by the afternoon in order to attend the orientation meeting and Welcome Dinner at approximately 7pm. The smarTours Tour Director will be available in the hotel lobby during the afternoon of Day 1 to assist with local sightseeing or answer any questions. Further details will be provided on the final travel documents.

The tour ends at approximately 12pm with the group being dropped off at Spokane International Airport.
