We want to reward loyal customers like you with an invitation to apply for smarTraveler status. Have you traveled with us frequently, referred friends and family to smarTours or been vocal about your once-in-a-lifetime trips? You could be smarTraveler material, enjoying these perks:

Room upgrades and other hotel extras at select hotels, based on availability. (If extras are not provided in at least one hotel during your tour as promised or due to lack of availability, smarTravelers can notify us and receive a $100 credit on their next tour.)

Exclusive smarTours news. You’ll receive notice of offers and new destinations before anyone else.

Event opportunities. When possible, we host events and offer free guest passes to travel events throughout the year—like The New York Times Travel Show. Join us and enjoy exclusive experiences with other smarTravelers. 

Skip to the front of the waiting list on our most popular trips. Quite often, the best dates and prices sell out. We provide waiting list priority to smarTravelers to give you a better chance of gaining a spot on the trip you want.

Priority phone service. Our team will answer your questions or concerns on a priority basis.

How Do I Qualify?

To qualify for smarTraveler status, you must attain one of the following:

  • Traveled at least three times with smarTours over the past three years.
  • Referred at least 12 friends and family members who took their first smarTours trip over the past three years.
  • Be a smarTours ambassador, active as a spokesperson on social media. Examples could include YouTube videos; posts on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram; reviews on TripAdvisor and Yelp; and more! Please remember to use #smarTours or @smarTours in your social media activity to get credit.

How Do I Apply?

Just fill out a short form. After we verify the information and ensure you qualify, you’ll receive an email approval within two weeks of application.

How Long Am I a smarTraveler?

If you’re accepted into the smarTraveler program on or prior to March 31st of the current year, your status will extend through the end of the same year. If you’re accepted after March 31st of the current year, your status will extend through December 31st of the following year. Because travel has largely been suspended due to the coronavirus, anyone who had smarTraveler status during March 2020 will retain that status through December 31, 2021. In December of the year when your status expires, you will receive an automated email asking you to renew. Your smarTraveler status will continue as long as you meet the requirements stated above.
