Mable's Private Group Tour to Morocco

Find Your Perfect Tour

Hear from smarTours traveler and tour director, Mable J., about her 2019 trip to Morocco!

What made you choose Morocco?

Our group had visited South Africa and Egypt and thought we should visit Morocco, the gateway to Europe and located in North Africa.

You’ve mentioned that you really enjoyed your tour director, Khalid. What made him so special?

Khalid is very knowledgeable and taught us Moroccan history through lectures, movies, and music. He taught us everything. From farming to manufacturing, life of the nomads, how to tie our headwraps, how to bargain, and most importantly he taught us how to embrace and enjoy the food. Khalid went out of his way to develop a relationship and meet the needs of all the group members. One of our group members was blind and Khalid helped him explore the culture through his other senses. The man and his wife were very appreciative. We have been on many smarTours group trips, but never had a tour guide like Khalid. At our farewell dinner, we roasted him and sent him the video.

Your itinerary covered quite a bit of ground. What is your advice to someone who is thinking about taking this tour?

This is a long trip. I suggest comfortable walking shoes and layer clothing. I suggest the group review the optional tours and consider making them part of the itinerary. North Africa is different from South Africa. It is a Muslim country and life is different.

Most memorable part of your trip to Morocco?

The Camel ride in the Sahara desert was the best. We got to dance, play instruments, had a wonderful lunch and ride our camels.
