Get ready to hit the wide-open road and travel from Seattle down to the glamorous city of Los Angeles, stopping at amazing locations along the way. Begin in Seattle, known for its greenery and as a global hub for technology. You’ll then head to Mt. Rainier National Park, one of the scenic wonders of the Northwest, and check out Mt. St. Helens before stopping in Portland for the night. As you make your way to the majestic Redwood National Park, enjoy your drive through ever-changing terrain from small towns to the dramatic Oregon coastline. Your road trip continues in California’s wine country where you can unwind and taste the world-renowned vintages of Sonoma County. Next, head to San Francisco and soak up as much of this fantastic city as possible before continuing your journey south through Central Coastal California with sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean. The beautiful towns of Carmel, Monterey, and Santa Barbara will not disappoint before you reach your final destination, Los Angeles.

Arrive in Seattle

Welcome to Seattle, the stunning seaport city on Washington’s coast. After checking into your hotel, make time to visit the iconic Space Needle with your included admission. When you arrive at the hotel, you’ll find a Welcome Desk with a “smarTours” sign and your local Tour Guide will be there to answer any questions you may have. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Dinner and coffee at one of Seattle’s excellent restaurants.

Seattle/Mt. Ranier/Mt. St. Helens/Portland

Today you’ll leave Seattle and head to Mt. Rainier National Park, one of the outstanding scenic wonders of the Northwest. You’ll cross the Columbia River for a stop at Mt. St. Helens that will reveal the devastation created by the 1980 eruption of this active volcano. You’ll continue to Portland that evening where you can take an optional Portland Spirit Dinner cruise or just relax on your own.

Portland/Oregon Dunes/Redwood National Park

Today you’ll enjoy the dramatic coastline of Oregon with its panoramic vistas and picturesque views. The peaceful drive through ever changing terrain will take you through small towns which reflect the essence of the American Spirit. You may even want to pack a picnic and pull off the highway at one of the many trails you will find along the way.

Redwood National Park/Eureka

Today you’ll pass former Russian fishing settlements as you continue your drive south. You’ll also drive through Redwood National Park, home to the earth’s tallest trees. The giant redwoods are protected in state and national parks as World Heritage sites.The parks also protect vast prairies, oak woodlands, wild river-ways, and nearly 40-miles of rugged coastline. You’ll end this day when you arrive at your hotel in Eureka.

Today, enjoy your day at leisure in Eureka, one of California’s historic landmarks and an “open air museum” of Victorian architecture. You may wish to spend the day at Sequoia park, a 67 acre facility next to Sequoia Park Zoo that features walking and bicycle trails through the redwood forest, meadows, duck pond and two small creeks. Or perhaps you’ll want to hike the Lost Coast Trail, one of the finest beach backpacking trips found in the United States, and it has steadily grown in fame and popularity over the years.

Today, we continue south en route to Northern California’s Wine Country. Home to perfect grape-growing conditions, dazzling displays of color as the seasons change and a Mediterranean climate, this region possesses some of the most famous wineries in the world. Upon arrival, enjoy a wine tasting at one of Sonoma’s finest Wineries.

Sonoma/San Francisco

This morning, you’ll cross the Golden Gate Bridge, an engineering marvel and one of the most beloved bridges in the world, before arriving in San Francisco. Upon arrival in San Francisco, you’ll enjoy a San Francisco Bay Cruise along the historic waterfront which reveals the city’s spectacular skyline. It’s a great way to see the City on the Bay.

This morning, a city tour provides a fun and exciting way to get an overview of the city and enables you to truly appreciate many of San Francisco’s most famous sights, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Chinatown, Union Square, and Fisherman’s Wharf. And, as no visit would be complete without taking a cruise on the Bay, you’ll set sail, passing the famous PIER 39 sea lions while making your way along the historic waterfront which reveals the city’s spectacular skyline. San Francisco/Monterey-Carmel

Today you’ll say goodbye to San Francisco and continue down the California coast to Monterey. You may wish to stroll along Fisherman’s Wharf and Cannery Row before continuing along your journey. You’ll experience stunning views of the rugged coastline and the Pacific on the 17-Mile Scenic Drive, which passes through the famous Pebble Beach Golf Course on your way to the village of Carmel.

Monterey-Carmel/Big Sur/Central Coast

Today you’ll follow the Pacific Coast Highway south along the Big Sur Peninsula. On the way enjoy views of the Pacific Ocean pounding the cliffs and rocks below. On your way, you may wish to visit the historic Hearst Castle and learn about its fascinating history.

Central Coast/Santa Barbara/Malibu/Santa Monica/Los Angeles

Today you’ll continue south passing through Santa Barbara, yet another beautiful stretch of coast in Malibu and the seaside town of Santa Monica prior to arriving in Los Angeles. This evening, join the group for a Farewell Dinner and share stories about your travels.
